They’re Thai. I found some discussion of these photos elsewhere. The uniforms are those of EMS workers.
There’s nothing here to suggest cannibalism. It looks like medical students are reducing a cadaver to a skeleton for study. Me? I couldn’t eat even watching that, much less doing it. But there’s no reason to think they’re eating the body.
There are other pictures in the set showing them boiling the bones.

I don’t think this is cannibalism. It looks like a Thai forensic team, judging from the uniforms. You don’t actually see anyone cooking or eating flesh. Photos can be very deceiving…

Xing, lol – I lived in Indonesia for 3 years growing up. The areas you mention don’t have Canibalism, but there are still recorded cases of Canibalism in West Papua, Indonesia. This is just a forensic medicine class. In some countries -mostly the poor ones- where medical schools don’t have the apropiate resources or means to preservate bodies for a long, time, these field practices are common. Also, as far as I know, in China and South East Asia is common that criminals and offenders are used for this, so it’s very probably that the subject of study shown here was a thief, kidnapper, rappist or something like that (not for sure, but may be). Cannibalism? Not really man, but everyone sees what wants to see…

First of all Med students do rec cadaver preps all the time, but unfortunately the ignorance prevailent here in Nigeria spread untrue rumours in interpreting these pics. Someone even went as far as printing a rag mag with the headline “ALL BLACKS BEWARE CANNIBALS IN THAI LAND” and this is a clear lie!!!! this pics clearly show a cadaver being prepared for medical purposes only! But i still think the person who released these pics were irresponsible! cause it widespread paranoia. most people didn’t take the time to investigate, and the race of the cadaver caused alot of people to draw racist conclusions. Next time please use a white guy if you are white! and spare uss your gruesome pastime pics.

i recently recieved an email from a friend of mine containing this photos and it is now more of a pertition as it is claimed that dead man is an African tourist. i am black from Africa currently studyinh in Australia, since the day i saw these pictures, i have developed 100% hatred towards Asian people. each time i meet them i feel like jumping on them and chocking them to death. this really tuched my inner being. the Thai government has to explain this to the international community or else i see their people being attacked where ever they go.
there are some picture still missing, where these guys were cooking the guys flesh in a can and appeared to be eating from it.

ever since i saw this pics last week i been restless for a while and been moving around the web to find an explanation and the reality of the matter as most black people and africans were made to believed if they evr visit Thailand, they will be killed and eaten. But today i have come to learn this was a medical training session on cadevas. it is a human and physiology class were you dissect dead bodies and learn from them. its so unfortunate to have this kind of procedures performed on an area like the one depicted on the pics. now, the million dollar question is, does it mean the Thai research centres do not have proper facilities for this??? to me this very degrading to a human being. that is why i will neva donate my body for research. i ought to be given some respect even if dead. secondly i doubt if this corpse belong to an african. the skull is more Asian, its just that the body might have decomposed and looked darker to be confused for a plan chap.
i therefore deeply convey my apology to all the innocent Thai and other Asians i have acted stupidly towards over the past week. i was mislead by one particular email make rounds all over the world claiming Thailand is canibalistic.

i have personally dissected morbid bodies in anatomy classes back in med school, and this is not entirely unlike that particular activity….and come on, clearly, those people had no plans to ingest that particular corpse (and even if they were, dressed in that civilized manner, i doubt they’d be so brazen about it).
still, i think the thai gov., or any other responsible agency in that land, should make haste and provide some verifiable evidence to support the innocuous nature of the activity in those pictures in their hopeful bid to clear negative publicity elicited by this unfortunate event.

On a serious note, the pictures to me do not look like mere medical practice/experiment because cadaver are no fresh bodies. this is a fresh body with fresh blood gushing out! there are proper tools and apparatus for dissectioning not butcher’s knives! Also why carry out such practice in the bush? some of the people are improperly dressed with beads, bracelets and face caps.. these don’t look like professionals. There is more to the picture than we see.
The whole thing is worthy of serious investigation across board: government, law enforcement agents and NGOs. We don’t have to be bias, whatever is evil is evil, civilized dressing alone does not make an evil deed good. We need an official explanation for this before it degenerates further. Cannibalism is bad either among whites or blacks, In whatever we do, how we do it matters. Lets be our brother’s keepers and make this world a better place to live.

i have also taken forensic classes. usually before you can go for lunch, the teachers whill take you to the mortuary and show you a postmortem session in progress. then you will emmidiately disperse for lunch. the whole idea is to break yo mind setup as much as possible. most people cant handle eating after witnessing all this hence will starve themselves. so the guy eating in this pic is merely following the same code. As for the laughing guys. it depicts they are excited and enjoying their profession. my opinion is that this must have been their first human cadever experiment and feel good to have accomplished the mission.

To describe this as babaric is actually an understatement. Please look out for those people who say that this is something medical, they might know more than they are spilling . Wether for educational purpose or not, the Thai Govt should as a matter of urgency issue a statement about the above pix. And if for any reason a cadaver is to be used, why not use a white cadaver, and why must it be dissected in the bush, why not in a lab? It’s really horrible, even the actors in the pix made everything look real. I don’t advise anybody to travel to thai for any reason, especially blacks until the Thai Govt. convince us beyond reasonable doubt. If it were in Africa, We Africans would have been sanctioned. I have read several of the comments raised above and this is what i think;
1.Whatever is happening in these pictures is humanly degrading, no matter the reason for the actions.
2. I have been a medical student, attended several postmortems and perform today several postmortems myself, this is not anywhere close to the code of medical training nor practice.
3.I think this is a fresh body (less than 7 days dead) irrespective of the purpose for which it was dissected or the course of death,
a. The colour of the flesh is almost bright red as opposed to the dark red color of decomposing flesh.
b. The is evidence of bleeding at almost every site of dissection though small
c. The internal organs (intestines and liver) look moist, non-fraible and non-decomposing.
d. There are signs of bleeding from a possible wound on the right maxillary area
4. I also have some questions?
a. What would a plate of food and cups be doing on the coffin next to the guy splitting the skull? Just getting the students used to the lesson?
b. Is this old men holding the skull the professor of this “very poor” medical school?
c. Who are all these bare footed guys> Students of this “very poor remote medical school?
d. Why the difference in uniform; the guys with name tags with dark blue uniforms and those with white? Senior students and junior students?
e. Although the stuff being cooked look more like chiken drum-sticks than human flesh, what are the human intestinal organs doing near the student food cooking place? Getting the students used to the practicals?
Conclusion:
1.Even if there isn’t sufficient evidence of cannibalism from these photos, am afraid that at this rate of “teaching”, these guys may eat someone soon if they are not psychiatrically assessed to rule out absence of any human behaviour!!
2. If this is truly a medical school or cadavar preparation, i strongly suggest that this institution be closed immediately and those concerned for this “training” be held accountable.

Personaly i dont see asians as ‘white’ in the proper sense of the word.To dissect a human being (either for medical practicals or whatever)i believe the participants should be sober. The dead guy has been dead for some time. Blood was not flowing.He also may not be a blackman.colours do change to black over time.However, the way these guys were (in high spirits) show that they are either sadists or cannibalists.

MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russian police have arrested three homeless people suspected of eating a 25-year-old man they had butchered and selling other bits of the corpse to a local kebab house.
Suspicions were raised when dismembered parts of a human body were found near a bus stop in the outskirts of the Russian city of Perm, 1,150 km (720 miles) east of Moscow.
Three homeless men with previous criminal records have been arrested on suspicion of setting upon a foe with knives and a hammer before chopping up his corpse to eat, local investigators said in a statement on their http://www.susk.perm.ru Web site.
“After carrying out the crime, the corpse was divided up: part was eaten and part was also sold to a kiosk selling kebabs and pies,” the Prosecutor-General’s main investigative unit for the Perm region said in a statement issued Friday.
It was not immediately clear from the statement if any of the corpse had been sold to customers.

Its quite disgusting to treat human beings this way no matter what race. Its now up to African Goverments to take our destiny in our hands. Why are the blacks leaving their home country? This is it not because bad governance and greed of our leaders? Blacks are being maltreated every part of the world even cos their home country cannot provide their basic needs of life. Nigerians are always being executed in Asia, but our governments are rewarding the asins with contracts in billions of dollars instead of sanctioning them. Allah ya isa. To the best my of belief, Nigeria, is far better than most of the so called developed countries if not cos bad leadership.

i have seen different sections of anatomy and also seen different forensic exercises that involved medical student opening up bodies for proofs of knowledge. these were done sections by sections.this is a total dissembling of all the parts at the same time. tell me, what have they learnt from the femur,tibia, arteries, veins and so one. they are in abudant in lagos. we start using them for masive forensic studies too.

i have two different views of the pictures. 1. this act is pure cannibalism not medical research;cannibalism has always been practised in asia, mostly taking place in the rural areas( u can notice the bushes) though the civilisd asians declaims such practise. the fact of the matter still remains that they like to try different kind of meat. 2. i believe that whoever snaped the photo’s is trying to create hatred among the viewers mostly of the asians. we should all ignore this pictures in our mind but try as much has possible to protect ourselves from danger. this picture s already caus widepread anger among individuals especilly youths. pls IGNORE the pics

Ok FIRST of all.. Indonesians are more modern than you think. Sorry to burst your bubble but we don’t walk around w/ grass skirts and live in small huts. I think the 99% majority of Indonesians are normal… true there is that 1% that may still act such tradition i.e. a few groups in Papua. So please don’t jump the guns on saying that SE Asians are barbaric, I can list a few cases in the US and other places in the world, where cannibalism acts were performed.

After I received this email I decided to do some research because they are truly disturbing. I just found it strange that these people look so happy and it just seem like some sort of research group but I did really understand why they were butchering this body. I even feel stupid for considering this may be true because after looking again, you can see the coffins. Anyway I have come to the conclusion that this was not an act of cannibalism but an event called the Sawang Boriboon Exhumation Ceremony. The pictures are real but the title is misleading!
There is no evidence that the man in the picture is black let alone Nigerian, if you actually look at the head it resembles Thai man more that black man. It is corpse that has clearly been dead for a while, hence the discoloration of the skin and also the reason why there is no blood. If this man was just “slaughtered” for food the scene would have been a bit more bloody. The so called cannibals are wearing EMS uniforms and as you can see in the photos below the uniforms are identical. I guess who ever started this email choose to leave these pics out. It seems as though the pictures chosen in this email were chosen to deliberately make it look as if these people were feasting on this mans body.
A ceremony was held at the Sawang Boriboon Foundation in the morning of 29th April. Governor of Chonburi Mr. Pracha Terat and Assistant Industry Minister,
Doctor Prayot Nuangjamnong, officiated at the ceremony together with many residents that attended to perform the religious practice, which is another ceremony included in the 5th cemetery clean up of unidentified bodies without relatives.
Collected bones were piled up and paid respect to before being burnt in the belief that this will release the spirits of the deceased.
There were performances of dancing, playing musical instruments, and a lot of food was offered to all to celebrate this religious ceremony.
A Cemetery Clean Up Programme that started on 24th March until now has been very successful since many people have shown interest and wish to volunteer in the event.
The merit making religious ceremony arranged by the Sawang Boriboon Foundation and Volunteers involves the collection and cleaning of bones from overcrowded cemeteries, particularly of unidentified bodies that have no family or relatives to honour them. The bones are then ceremoniously cremated and the ashes are interred at the various temples. This clean up will carry on until 11th May.

from a observant point of view, the people aren’t any medical or forensic team– none of them is wearing any surgical gloves as they cut the man up.
secondly, i do not believe it is “A CEREMONY” as someone wrote above, simply by the fact that there doesn’t seem to be any respect going on based on the laughing faces, desecration and i think there’s also a photo of a woman doing the “rock on” bull sign with the guy’s hand– definately not a ceremony.
but there’s also nothing to show them eating the flesh directly, although in several of the photos there’s what looks like white paper…the same kind we receive our meat in from the butchery.
dont know what was going on there, but the images are highly disturbing. They should have treated the body with respect.

Let them be medical students. let them be not cannibals. The reality is that they acted senselessly. No gloves, no lab., some with no shoes, kitchen knives chopping hands. That is why some of us connect this with south east Asian bad behaviour of trying to eat everything, anything!
After acting this way throughout their training life will they later respect a human being as a creature to be protected by the same profession of theirs? This is stupidity which cannot be protected by their poverty and lack of facilities.

heyyy this was no medical practice a medical practice would have been one person in lab explainin to the students whats going on with each body part, this poor soul of body was rippid and torn under 20 mins with more then several people at it at the same time no hygiene nothing bare hands, these guys are smiling like everything fine,this was food party truss me, this must be organised group rescue team having summer festive of meat theyve never tasted before, doing some sort of ritual the women holding the hand is doing a satanic sign with it, which can be found if you do research, boy this stuff is madness. how these people even exist is shocking!

For medical reasons indeed, i have few questions..
Where are the lab coats, and are those not kitchen knives, plus isn’t is old fashioned to remove flesh manually- it’s disolved in acid isn’t it? That way the bone is cleaned completely and totally, and it isn’t as messy. Why didn’t they just do that?
As for the way they look, they dont look like medical students either, who’s to say wat a cannibal looks like any way?
And one more thing, i hope you know these are people that have a culture of eating babies cause it’s thought to make a person young and beautiful. what ever the case maybe i smell a big fat RAT.

Guys don’t be so naive! These are all medical students in these photos. The people wearing uniforms, are all from a local ambulance service. Yes, very gruesome pictures indeed. These should have never been posted on the net. Unfortunately people- these “human” dissections, happen in every mortuary around the world, with medical personnel of all kinds (not necessarily doctors)present, all for the name of science. So please, don’t jump to any crazy conclusions about “Cannibalism” in Thailand. I have lived in Thailand for the last 10 years, and find the local Thais a very peaceful Buddhist people. Not always “smooth as Silk”, but close to it.

Ah ah, let us calm down pls. There are a lot of storm aroud these pix, but one need to be very careful in concluding. Think of this… civilised cannibals operating and allowing snapshots??? that can be published as thus???… i think something is wrong somewhere. I am a Nigerian and presently in thailand, i have not witness or hear such a thing. These pix could be a fixed. I dont think is practicable openly as it on those pix, even if they are super power of the world. The butchered guy there is not a black moreover why the dust. Cannibalism is not good, i am not supporting that, but let our government do something afterall a magazine has picked it up.
